Volkswagen built a 400-strong Golf Hybrid GTE Sport

Volkswagen has unveiled concept car Golf GTE Sport at the tuning festival Worthersee, equipped with a hybrid power plant with capacity of 400 horsepower. This all-wheel drive prototype of the first Golf, received three motors: one petrol engine and one electric on each axis.

The structure of the power plant concept car included gasoline turbo “four” 1.6 power 299 hp (400 Nm) from the rally hatchback Polo R WRC. Two electric motors develop 115 horsepower and 330 Nm. The first is set in the front, fitted with six-speed robot with two clutches; it is recharged by the kinetic energy recovery and acts as a generator for the unit on the rear axle. Such a scheme at Volkswagen called the electric propeller shaft.

Golf Hybrid accelerates from zero to hundred kilometers per hour in 4.3 seconds. The speed is electronically limited to 130 kilometers per hour. On the German autobahn car was able to dial 200 kilometers per hour in 15.9 seconds.
