September 8, 2016 at 23:13

Graphene is a new material of nanotechnology. It is now applied in the automotive industry. By car the developers BAC Mono, the use of graphene in the structure of the body can save up to 20% by weight.
Graphene is a carbon atom in the sheet thickness. At the same time it is lighter and stronger than carbon fiber. According to the BAC engineers can obtain the vehicle weight reduction of 20%. This is the figure, which can significantly affect the performance, fuel economy and cost of the machine.

BAC together with Haydale Composite Solutions Company conducted tests, during which the tested carbon fiber coated with graphene. It was decided to focus on the vehicle’s rear arches because of their size and complexity, allowing you to check the material and manufacturing technology. The car was presented at the Festival of Science in the city of Manchester.
