Volkswagen will launch a concept car Budd-e in serial production

Head of promising electric vehicles of the German company Volkswagen Volkmar Tanneberger told reporters that the concept of the electric compact van Budd-e, presented in the framework of the International CES 2016 consumer electronics, is scheduled to start serial production.
The serial version of Volkswagen Budd-e will be constructed on a new modular platform MEB. According to him, the production version will get a fully electric drive.

Unfortunately, when it will be released it will lose some futuristic technical design and findings. For example, in the production version of the car door will be opened by the usual pens, not gestures, as it was implemented in the concept. However, this feature may leave for the tailgate.

It is currently unknown which power plants will receive Budd-e in the production version. Recall that the prototype was equipped with two electric motors for the front and rear axle capacity of 135 and 170 hp respectively.
