New Citroen Concept Car Successor

In September this year, the company Citroen will present at the Motor Show in Frankfurt a prototype successor of the model 2CV, which bore the nickname of “The Ugly Duckling.” Production version of the model will debut in spring 2014. At the moment, the successor of the car has al corporate designation E3 Essential. New product will be built on the platform of the C4 model, and its overall length will be about 4.3 meters. Appearance of the car is planned to be similar to the style of a concept car C-Cactus, first introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007.

It is expected that the range of engines of 2CV successor will include two petrol engines with capacity of 82 and 100 horsepower, as well as 92-hp diesel core. As previously reported, for cutting costs initiative the models of five-door E3 Essential will not include a multimedia system with touch screen, the system of “start-stop” and cruise control. The cost of the basic version of new items will be around 16,000 euros (about two thousand euros cheaper than C4 model).

The first concept car, built on the grounds of 2CV, Citroen company introduced in 2009. The prototype was called Revolte and was equipped with a hybrid power plant.
