The company Laser Power Systems has created a concept car equipped with an engine that is running on an element of group III of the periodic table weakly radioactive heavy metal thorium. Developers have proposed to use it to generate a laser energy beam that will heat the water, turning it into steam, and steam, in turn, will rotate the turbine.
