New Concept Car of Alfa Romeo Disco Volante 2012

During the 2012 Geneva Motor Show spectators could witness a totally new and unforgettable world premiere from the concept designer – Touring Superleggera. This Milan-based coachbuilder this year got into the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the old and classic 1952 Alfa Romeo model of C 52 ‘Disco Volante’ and therefore made a tribute to its vast sporting heritage, introducing a new concept car for Disco Volante year 2012.

The 2012 Disco Volante concept car is yet a static style model that was based on the special space-frame chassis of Alfa Romeo the 8C Competizione. From the recent tradition of special Touring, it would be specially coach-built in a fairly limited run for the vast majority of customers who are in the deep search of an exclusive, concept new, sporty grand tour. The C52 model is considered as one of the very best examples of touring. Destined for a special racing career, this vehicle was based on the extreme aerodynamic research, and thus achieved an impressive 0.25 drag coefficient. This car was also nicknamed ‘Disco Volante’, or the special Flying Saucer, for its new futuristic shape and had influenced the auto design for decades to come.
